Sixties Thanksgiving Style

For Thanksgiving, going to a Thanksgiving dinner is a given.(whoa, play on words) In my family we dress nicely for the event. But every year, I have the dilemma on what to wear because I want comfort, but I want to look stylish. But since I'm such a big fan of the mod style, I wanted to incorporate it in my Thanksgiving look this year.

sixties mod style

Chevron dress
Dress- You need a dress with some give, and not too fitting. Especially since the main event for Thanksgiving is a whole lot of eating!

opaque tight
Tights- I notmally wear tights if it's too cold in the evening, usually helps keep my legs warm, and these are quite fashionable.

black and white shoes
Shoes- I always like heels for special events but heels can be uncomfortable sometimes, so this kitten heel oxford is perfect for extra height and style.

lips
Lip Stain- I am a lipstick kind of gal, but lipstick can smear and get all over the place especially if you're eating. Lip stain gives color but it's so bold like a lipstick.

Wool coat
Coat- I love coats, and a bold coat as you're entering someones home can be a perfect piece to a conversation starter. P.S. I love how mod it is!

Clutch- I normally go with something smaller only because there usually there isn't much to bring to a dinner if you're a guest. Just yourself and an appetite!

November Cakes

November has brought me the loveliest cakes. So pretty and dainty. I normally do more bright and colorful cakes, but I kind of love this type of cake too.

So today, I wanted to share some of my favorite cakes I did this month.

The first here is a baby shower cake with tons of succulents. I was completely smitten over this one. The succulents were so bright and made the cake what it was. Love how natural and organic looked.

And the rose cake is a favorite with people, but what made this one of my favorites was the edible glitter all over it. In person, it shimmered so nicely. These pictures capture the sparkle a little thankfully.

Which one was your favorite? I cannot decide. I love these both as if there were my babies. Haha!

NonTraditional Thanksgiving Sweets

If you didn't know already, I'm a sweets and desserts kind of gal! Every holiday, I love to check out other sites and get inspired with delicious sweets. So I want to share some of the ones I'm seriously considering for this year's Thanksgiving festivities! Warning: these aren't your traditional Thanksgiving treats, but have all the essence of one!

Look at these mini pumpkin pies from My Baking Addiction. Aren't they darling?? The perfect bite-sized yumminess!

Holy cow, this dessert looks like perfection. Vanilla and Cider Panna Cotta with spiced Ginger Cookies. Only Food & Wine can give us a dessert like this.

And of course, we need some adorable and maybe a healthier option for anyone who is skipping on the pie. A pear and apple slices with caramel dip is a great alternative. And you can't deny how cute this is. Great dessert from Meet the Dubiens.

One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving is Sweet Potato! This Sweeta Potato cupcakes with Marshmallow Frosting from Annie's Eats looks like perfection!

I just couldn't but share another cupcake! But c'mon!!! Look at these awesome cupcakes from Make Bake Celebrate! Holy cow, these are so fun! If you didn't get enough of your Thanksgiving meal...BAM, here you have them on a cupcake!

Hope all of you guys try one of these desserts. I surly was inspired, but now I can't decide which one to make!

Style Envy

One of my celebrity style favorites is none other than the "it girl", Taylor Swift. Even though she has so much success at such a young age, I must give it to her for her style. I feel like she discovered her style just a few years ago. Something shifted and this girl found what clothes look best on her. I am quite envious. She keeps it classy with such chic taste. And to be honest, I would wear any of these outfits in a heartbeat. I think her style represents my style, so maybe that's why I just love it so much.

And if you're not a fan of her music, you can't deny good fashion. I love her all around. Stay classy, T-Swift!

Street style, loving the shorts with geometric sweater.

Perfect hair, floral dress, and darling heels.

I'm a sucker for good coats. In love with this one. And red lips, classy!

Such class this young girl. And legs for days.

Such a simple outfit, but she wears a blazer with such grace.

Love everything about this. I even love her pop of red with her bag and lipstick.

Color and style.

She works those oxfords like no other. And those long legs! What are your thoughts on Taylor?

50 shades of Brown

Brown boots are kind of a given for fall. Every girl owns a good brown boot for the crisp fall season! Here are some of my favorite I've been eyeing. And if you notice, they aren't all alike. Some heeled, some casual, but all lovely!

Venice

Today I share my last stop on my Italy trip, Venice. Venice was like no other city in Italy, and made the last stop so exciting even though we were pretty tired by the end of our trip. The canals are so beautiful, and how the city is just made up of tiny islands is incredible. And I love not seeing cars anywhere too!

This was view from our water bus! I love all the boats everywhere.

My favorite view was from our apartment. We were down the street from the Arsenal Canal, and 5 minute walk from St. Mark. I loved looking out the window and just seeing boats pass by.

Very busy St. Marks Square.

St. Marks Basilica. Seems like so much gets restored in Italy. But I love that. And it's beautiful inside.

Me wandering around Venice, so mesmerized by the canals.

Inside the Bridge of Sighs, connecting the Doge's Palace and the prison.

Inside Doge's Palace and view of the top of the basilica.

One of my favorite parts of Venice was the Doge's Palace. So much art, and architecture.  It's stunning!

View from the Rialto bridge.

Our last meal in Italy. The place was amazing. I will share more food pictures of my favorite places on another post.

Italy was such a great experience. I fell in love with the country, the friendly people, the delicious food, and culture. I never realized how much I need traveling, until I began doing it more. People always say "what a small world", and it is sometimes. But when you travel, somehow standing in a beautiful corner of the world, you feel so small and the world feels endless. I just want to see it all. I have been fortunate enough to travel my whole life all over the U.S. with my family. But now as an adult and going overseas, I just don't want to stop exploring. Just this past year, I have been to England, Scotland, France, Italy, Dominican Republic, Aruba, Grand Turk, and Curacao. And I'm already thinking where I can go next! Wanderlust is real, folks.

my kitchen must haves

I wanted to share one of my favorite kitchen items I use a whole lot! Some are a bit of a splurge, but so long lasting!

kitchen must haves
KitchenAid mixer KitchenAid mixers are a great tool. There are lots of mixers out here, but this one powerful, and very long lasting! Oh, and these mixers has other attachments too like a pasta roller. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that they have all the cutest colors out there for mixers. I have the simple chrome color, but sometimes I do envy the mint one.

Le creuset cookware My Le Creuset dutch oven is one of the best gifts I have ever gotten. Technically, the gift was for my husband andI, but let's get real...I'm the one it's really for. If you don't know this about me, I LOVE soups. So this is perfect for me to make all the soups I could ever want. And this dutch oven, ca actually serve more purposes than soup, like baking a cake.

Stainless Laguiole cutlery Laguiole steak knives had been on my buy list for some time. I love how sharp they are, but how chic they are as well. People usually recognize these knives by the bee on the handle. I love these so much, I actually have 2 sets one. Oh, and I forget the best part, they come in variety colors too in their own wooden box.

Jade cake plate This green jadeite cake stand is not just so stunning to look at, but has been so practical for me. I love making cakes, so this cake stand has actually been really versatile with my cakes. The color is soft so it allows the cake to shine still. And the style is just classic.

nesting doll measuring cup My nesting doll measuring cups were honestly a buy at first because they were just so cute, and inexpensive. But honestly, it has been so useful when I cook or bake. They are my go to measuring cups. But what makes these measuring cups my favorite it is the different amount of measurements, and the easy storage for all of them. And if you want, you can keep them out and they are almost a cute decor item for the kitchen.

Nespresso coffee maker And last but not least, my beloved Nespresso machine! This has been one of the best purchases we ever made. I sure love a good pour over coffee, but when I want to treat myself (daily) I make myself a delicious cappuccino in just minutes. And what I love is nothing is artifical. I am using real milk for the froth, and espresso capsules that come in different intensities and flavors. We have had this machine for 3 years now, and it is still one of my favorite kitchen items.

Like I said, I know some of these are a splurge, but they are great quality items. If you enjoy cooking or baking like me, maybe it's something to think about! Let me know if you have a must have item in your kitchen, I would love to know!
